i realized
when i heard the
glee and the scream
when my two grandkids
saw us arriving from
our car bearing a gift.
it was that and it was the birthday
boy's big day. yes
but also it has been a long long time.
almost a year.
we were finally attending
a family gathering.
the usual but this
morning i felt something different
a feeling of grateful awe.
it has been along time indeed.
and it felt very good inside.
my heart was ready to burst
with joy with tears streaming down
my face instead.
finally. still no hugs
no kisses.
but this is good enough
for now.
